This is not news, as the newly crowned four-time world champion has already stated countless times on various forums that, as much as he loves and respects Formula 1, there is life outside of it. And he really wants to experience it…
This was all hinted at by the Dutch star's father, Jos Verstappen, who revealed that he knows his son has a plan to step out of the F1 world championship for a year on a trial basis:
“He still has a contract with Red Bull Racing until 2028, but after that nothing is set in stone. We’ll see if he’ll still be interested in F1 after that… Up until now, throughout his career, everyone has always told him what to do and how to do it. Now he’s getting to the point where he won’t listen to anyone anymore, he’ll make decisions on his own. It’s certain that there’s life outside of Formula 1, and that really excites Max’s imagination.
I think it is possible that he could go out for a year, prove himself elsewhere and then come back. I don't know yet what will happen, but one thing is certain: he is not motivated by the idea of winning seven or eight world titles, he is not even chasing records, he is already largely satisfied with what he has achieved in his Formula 1 career." - Verstappen's father made a rather interesting statement.
