Is it known that a pilot who makes a mistake in the starting procedure is fined X amount, while another who swears is punished with double amount? This has made the organization for the defense of pilots' rights collectively angry!
The International Automobile Federation has been too stupid lately, and it hasn't just pissed off fans. The drivers' association led by George Russell has sent an open letter to the FIA president:
“We are professional drivers competing in Formula 1, the pinnacle of international motorsport. We are gladiators, putting on a special show for the fans every race weekend. When it comes to obscene language, there is a big difference between wanting to hurt someone and, for example, saying inappropriate words about the weather, about our inanimate car, or making an inelegant remark about a racing situation.
It is for this reason that we would like to ask the FIA President, Mohammed ben Sulayem, to consider his tone and language when he speaks about us or with us, both in private conversations and in public forums. We are adults and we do not need to be educated through the media, much less on trivial matters of what to say or what to wear…" - Russell and the others responded harshly.
