It has long been suspected that Sergio Perez would not complete his contract due to his extremely poor performances, not up to the standard of the Red Bull Racing team. Due to much speculation and considerable external pressure, Perez has today officially announced: he is leaving Red Bull!
After a long and incomprehensible wait, what was supposed to happen finally happened. In truth, it was not the team that announced the farewell, but Sergio Perez said goodbye with a statement:
“I am extremely grateful for the last four seasons and the opportunity to compete with such an amazing team. It has been an experience to drive a Red Bull and I will always cherish our shared successes.
We have broken records, achieved milestones together, and I have met so many wonderful people along the way. I owe a huge thank you to each and every member of the team, from management to engineers, mechanics, hospitality, chefs, marketing and communications, everyone. I wish them all the best in the future!
It has also been a real honour for me to be Max’s teammate and share his successes. I would like to express a special thanks to the fans, especially the Mexican fans, who believed in me every day and supported me relentlessly. See you soon, until then don’t forget… never give up!” - concluded Perez, thus marking the end of an era in the life of Red Bull.
