Sainz senior: “It wasn’t Ferrari that needed Hamilton, but vice versa”

Sainz anziano: “Non era la Ferrari ad avere bisogno di Hamilton, ma viceversa”

Tóth Krisztián Márk |

It has been a long time since the announcement of Carlos Sainz's release, and it occasionally raises a storm that the Spaniard has been sidelined by Scuderia Ferrari during what could be the best season of his life.

Many think it is the team's fault, but now Carlos Sainz's father has stated that because of what happened, Lewis Hamilton is much more responsible than the red team:

“Ferrari was very happy with Carlos, but he couldn’t stay because Hamilton had offered himself to the team. He was the one who contacted Ferrari, not the other way around. That’s why the story went this way, but there’s no point in staying sad about it. What I’m sorry about is that Carlos doesn’t get the respect and appreciation he deserves based on his abilities. He had his best season, we’re seeing his best version, and he’ll continue to improve. He’s a driver who becomes more complete every year, but he’s going to have a tough time at Williams. The team was second to last among the constructors, but despite that he’s very motivated. During the year it was difficult for him to process his situation, the fact that neither Mercedes nor Red Bull Racing chose him, but you’ll see what he’s capable of...” Sainz’s father said with proud disappointment.
