George Russell has always believed that on the other side of the Mercedes box is the best driver in the world, against whom, if he can prove his worth, he could one day become world champion.
Now Russell is here and he wants to cash in on that promise for himself. He has consistently beaten Lewis Hamilton within the team for two seasons, so theoretically all he needs is competitive technology to complete his mission:
“I am fully aware of the role that has been assigned to me as the most experienced driver in the team. In 2025, many extraordinary young drivers will arrive in Formula 1, and at this moment you realize that, although you are not old yet, you are no longer young. My career has entered a new chapter, having closed the first phase, now I move on to the next. When Lewis Hamilton started winning countless world titles, he was already older than me, and now it is my turn to follow his example. I feel that I am on the right path, I am ready to take on the role that has been assigned to me. The important thing is to be as fast as possible, and I feel that way.” - George Russell spoke veiledly of his goals.
Can you imagine Russell as world champion?
