Although it was recently announced, and we also reported it, that the eleventh F1 team is coming, the joy was mixed with a "little" unpleasant aftertaste.
It is certainly great news that the barriers to entry for the new team have been removed, but this is not attributable to the good will of the participants. It is much more related to the fact that, instead of the previously planned $200 million, $450 million will enter the "league" coffers, or at a price two and a half times higher they were already willing to be kind...
All of this means that General Motors must pay more than three seasons of costs up front to even be considered and given the right to participate. This sum will be distributed among the teams already active, but it is not yet known in what proportion. However, the international press is whispering that if all teams receive the same share of the revenue, then each will be enriched by a sum equivalent to that of the last two teams in the manufacturers' standings - just because they have succumbed to GM.
With the entry of the Americans, an old relevant rule is no longer valid: until now, every team has participated in the sector's revenue, but from now on only the top ten will enjoy this benefit.
