Although Lando Norris lost in the individual fight, with his performance on the last lap he brought the constructors' world championship title to McLaren. That is already in the bag, but in 2025 he hopes to win the drivers' competition as well...
Norris admits defeat and acknowledges that in 2024 Max Verstappen was better than him, but he also sees a lesson in the missed opportunity:
"Being second, losing the victory is always a painful thing, but - it may seem strange - I am already happy to face 2025 knowing that I can fight. I know myself, my virtues, my limits, no one knows better than me where I have to improve. There are areas where I am strong, areas where I am not, I am open to criticism and open to improving in what is necessary.
Last year my qualifying performance was not the best, but this year I was almost twice as good and got a lot of pole positions. This year I didn't have that little bit extra that would have allowed me to beat Max Verstappen, who I could have fought with. However, I clearly had the feeling that he is human too, and if I improve here and there in my technique, I can definitely say that I have the strength to beat him.
I have the feeling that I am already close to that in the last races, where I have achieved solid results. I hope that 2025 will be a year where I will be fighting for the world title from the first race!” - said a determined Norris.
