The weekend got off to a bad start for Scuderia Ferrari at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, where the reds are fighting for nothing less than the constructors’ world championship title.
In this race they are already at a disadvantage, and double… While the driver suffered from food poisoning during the drivers' end-of-year dinner, the battery pack of his car stopped working. And yet everything had started in a dream way, since Charles Leclerc was able to take to the track alongside his brother Arthur:
“It all started last night when I got food poisoning. I didn’t sleep all night, I was extremely tired, I couldn’t think about anything else except when I could finally go to bed. The day started very badly… I didn’t feel like getting in the car at all, but I was very motivated, we can go on a tour with Arthur. This has fulfilled a dream that our whole family came here for, so I couldn’t miss it for the world.
When it became clear that we had problems with the battery and that it needed to be replaced, many things came to mind. First of all, that I could lose the opportunity to be on track with my brother during a Formula 1 weekend. Then there is the constructors' championship... We have to start ten places further back, so the weekend has become much more difficult. But overall I take it as a challenge! I feel a bit better, I rest at night and I will come back with charged batteries. What we need is a great day tomorrow and an incredible Sunday!” – said the unfortunate Charles Leclerc.
