We all remember the chaos of last year’s Brazilian Grand Prix, the postponed qualifying, the crashes. Well, all of that didn’t go without consequences…
For this reason, a new rule has been introduced regarding F1 qualifying. Regarding the aforementioned qualifying, the biggest debate has been about how and on what basis the starting grid will be determined if it cannot be held.
The reaction to what we saw last year is already evident here, in the sense that if a similar situation were to arise from 2025, that is, a situation were to arise in which it is not possible to carry out qualifying, the rule will be that the riders will start according to the individual world championship ranking.
But what if all this happens in the first race of the year, when there is still no world championship standings? Well, in this case the next option is that the starting grid will be determined by the FIA stewards. How they will do it and on what guidelines is not yet clear, but perhaps it goes without saying that this decision sets the stage for incredible debates…
