Mexican Grand Prix, FP1: Russell was fastest

Gran Premio del Messico, FP1: Russell è stato il più veloce

Tamás Jancsovics |

A few laps, crashes, red flags, George Russell's win. In short, this is what happened in the first free practice session of the Mexican Grand Prix.

Fernando Alonso, already recovered but only watching from the pit lane, and five young drivers showed up for FP1. Oliver Bearman with Scuderia Ferrari, Robert Schwartzman with Stake, Felipe Drugovich with Aston Martin, Patricio O'Ward with McLaren and Andrea Kimi Antonelli with Mercedes were able to get back behind the wheel. As soon as the session started, due to debris on the track, the red flag was already shown. Antonelli managed to drive over it and, luckily for the young Italian, his car was not damaged. As soon as the session resumed, it was interrupted again, this time due to a crash between Bearman and Alexander Albon, which had a disastrous outcome. Albon also damaged his car, but the Ferrari also suffered damage. And what else happened during the session? Nothing particularly special, George Russell won this heat ahead of Carlos Sainz and Yuki Tsunoda.
