Brazilian Grand Prix: Verstappen's extraordinary victory

Gran Premio del Brasile: Straordinaria vittoria di Verstappen

Tamás Jancsovics |

Terrible chaos, Lando Norris's journey through hell, Max Verstappen's resurrection, all seasoned with a little Alpine magic. In short, this is the chronicle of the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The Brazilian Grand Prix had not even started when we had already documented the first retirement: Lance Stroll abandoned the Aston Martin on the formation lap, burying himself in the gravel. For him, the race ended like this... The "second" first start was taken well by George Russell, who immediately took the lead ahead of Lando Norris. The group started relatively cleanly, only Sergio Perez managed to spin, dropping back to last place. Meanwhile, the other Red Bull, Max Verstappen, showed a strong comeback, already finding himself in seventh position ahead of Oscar Piastri after a few laps. Franco Colapinto and Oliver Bearman also put on a show, overtaking the suffering Lewis Hamilton. The seven-time world champion visibly struggled, not finding harmony with his car, and found himself fighting at the back of the group. The race was about to flatten out when an extreme amount of rain fell on the track, forcing the entrance of the safety car.

Before that, many visited the pit lane, including Colapinto, who however destroyed the Williams on his out lap. A red flag was drawn, a long wait, then a flying start... During this phase, Esteban Ocon maintained the leading position, while Lando Norris lost a lot of ground due to a slide. In the meantime, Bearman ended up against the wall, but it happened in a good place, so the race could continue without problems. In the meantime, Ocon's lead continued to grow, but Carlos Sainz arrived, had an accident, and the safety car came back on track. The new restart was better managed by Verstappen, who took the lead. And since Norris made a huge mistake, he basically gave the opportunity to his rival...

The next twenty laps went by like this, Verstappen and the two Alpines on the podium, battles further back in the group, and Norris "nowhere". In the remaining time no drama occurred, Max Verstappen thus won the Brazilian Grand Prix with great difficulty and a huge advantage, ahead of Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly. And with that, probably another world title as well.
