After the unacceptable comedy on Saturday, today the qualification for the Brazilian Grand Prix was recovered, where Lando Norris took pole position.
In Q1, which was postponed to the following day, the field was greeted by conditions almost identical to those before. As a result, the first session showed a picture of cautious exploration, with many skids and accidents. Franco Collapinto was the first victim of this, ending up against the wall and causing a short red flag phase. These conditions were read best by Max Verstappen, Alexander Albon and George Russell, while among the retirements ended up Collapinto, Lewis Hamilton, Oliver Bearman, Nico Hülkenberg and Zhou Guanyu.
We were not even halfway through Q2 when Carlos Sainz replicated Franco Colapinto, ending up against the wall with the Ferrari almost in the same place where his Argentine colleague had been previously. Another red flag followed... At that moment Oscar Piastri, George Russell and Lance Stroll were leading, but it was predictable that with the installation of the intermediate tyres this would not be the final classification. Shortly after Stroll's exit he in fact triggered an avalanche, after which the red flags followed one after the other. Together with him, Valtteri Bottas, the two Red Bulls, Carlos Sainz and Pierre Gasly were forced to retire, as despite the remaining time, this round was not restarted. All this was advantageous for McLaren, especially for Norris...
Q3 degenerated into total chaos, first Alonso had an accident, then Albon destroyed the Williams, finally only seven drivers remained in the top 10. In the last clean minutes of qualifying we saw continuous improvements, with Lando Norris, George Russell and Yuki Tsunoda proving to be the fastest.
