Sergio Perez's job is in danger at Red Bull Racing, and this is no longer news. Every day there are names that could replace him, and now Christian Fittipaldi has launched an interesting idea.
Former Formula 1 driver Fittipaldi believes that it could easily happen that Oscar Piastri, Red Bull's second driver, gets tired and leaves McLaren at the end of the season to continue his career in place of Perez in 2025:
“As strange as it may seem to think about it now, I don’t think it’s impossible that Oscar Piastri will leave McLaren at the end of the year and move to Red Bull to replace Perez. In the meantime, Piastri could get a little tired of Lando Norris’ support, of the role of second driver, and could decide to change his mind following a sudden idea,” Fittipaldi reflected.
It may seem crazy, but there are several possibilities here. One is that Piastri could sit in the best car on the grid and go up against the best driver in the championship. Red Bull would gain a very good driver, while seriously weakening their main rival McLaren. It's an interesting idea!
