Sprint qualifying continued with Friday's programme of the Brazilian Grand Prix, whose big winner in the end was Oscar Piastri.
The first laps of SQ1 were interesting and it was already clear that this session could be a real spectacle: on the ever-changing track we saw Liam Lawson at the start, then Oscar Piastri, and finally Lando Norris who finished this segment ahead of his teammate and Alexander Albon. Among the retirees were the two Aston Martins, Yuki Tsunoda, Guanyu Zhou and Esteban Ocon.
In SQ2 Norris once again opened the lead, followed by Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen, there was no doubt about the first trio. However, behind them, practically anything could happen, anything could happen. Who would have thought, for example, that Oliver Bearman, who replaced Kevin Magnussen due to illness, would easily move up to SQ3? We are no longer surprised by Sergio Perez's departure, but the real surprise was the elimination of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Hülkenberg - as both their teammates moved up - while Franco Collapinto and Valtteri Bottas could not continue in the competition.
In the final stage of sprint qualifying, the battle was fought with soft compounds and the forces were reversed: Oscar Piastri was the fastest, and by overtaking Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc, he will start from pole position in the sprint race of the Brazilian Grand Prix.
