According to Berger, with the progress of recent years and the arrival of Lewis Hamilton, this year everything has come together for Ferrari to finally step out of its shadow. The Austrian believes that this year will be THAT year when all this happens:
“This season I would bet all my money on Ferrari. I can’t say whether Lewis Hamilton or Charles Leclerc will become world champion, or whether they will win in the drivers’ or constructors’ category – but they will win. They will take home the title! They are extremely strong in terms of both engine and chassis, they probably have one of the strongest driver pairings ever, if not the strongest. In addition, Hamilton’s arrival in Maranello brings a level of motivation that is rare. He needed new stimuli, and I think he will receive them perfectly at Ferrari.
At Mercedes, he could taste victory only occasionally, and now he finds himself in an environment where everyone is hungry for success. I am sure he will give his best, but I fear he will have difficulty keeping up with Leclerc's speed. What could help him a lot is his friendship with Frederic Vasseur. I think Hamilton is not just a simple driver, but also a leader who can inspire and push the entire team towards victory!” - said Gerhard Berger, explaining why he considers the Italians the biggest favorites for 2025.
