This was stated by the team director, Mattia Binotto. The team that joins Formula 1 in 2026 does not intend to remain inactive for a long time, but already win a championship by the end of the decade.
It's a bold promise, but with the support of the parent company, the project is not impossible at all:
“We don’t just have to climb a mountain, but Everest itself. It will take several years before we are truly successful, but our goal is clear: we want to be in the running for the title by the end of the decade. At the moment there is still a big difference compared to what I saw at Ferrari, I would say there is a chasm between us. The infrastructure is different, the personnel, the way of thinking, we have to transform a small team into a big team. Our performance in 2024 is exactly what it is because we are no longer focused on 2024, but on 2026. Our work, our developments, all our concentration is directed towards this.
Audi entered Formula 1 to be a competitive member of the grid. This will be the case until we win, but also afterwards. We think long term, we want to evolve into a winning team and be a useful part of the sport. F1 is the pinnacle of motorsport and it is fantastic that Audi has finally committed to it,” said the Italian professional.
