We have arrived at the last race of the 2024 Formula 1 season, which for many meant a farewell, for some a debut and for others a world title.
The start was interesting, Max Verstappen slipped past Oscar Piastri with extreme agility, and with that momentum he also spun the Australian, as well as himself... In the meantime, the other Red Bull driver, Sergio Perez, also lost in the fight against Valtteri Bottas, ending up off the track. A VSC phase followed, then Piastri ended the race of Franco Colapinto, who had an unfortunate puncture. In the meantime, Lando Norris, Carlos Sainz and Pierre Gasly were in the lead, but this only lasted until the pit stops.
Due to the different tactics, we saw the order Norris, Sainz, Russell, and basically a long train of events without overtaking. In the meantime, Valtteri Bottas had a puncture and unfortunately also hit Kevin Magnussen. Paradoxically, Bottas' race, who had done well all weekend, ended unhappily... Even the incidents after the start did not go unnoticed, Verstappen received ten seconds for his "action" against Piastri, while the latter received the same time for the incident with Colapinto.
After Lewis Hamilton, the last to stop, returned to the track, the display showed the order Norris, Sainz, Leclerc. The fronts hardened, with Norris, the two Ferraris and the two Mercedes, followed by Verstappen. Only at the top of the middle group were there small battles, overtaking back and forth, while in the last grey race, the performances of Gasly and Hülkenberg were the most curious. And then the victory of Lando Norris of McLaren, who took home the constructors' title at the last moment, the podium of Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc, and of course the beautiful overtaking of Lewis Hamilton on George Russell on the last lap.
