In two years, a new era will come: the MGUH will disappear, the percentage of electric motor power will increase, and sustainable fuels will arrive.
There have already been periods of great change, when the Mercedes team has been able to seize the opportunity. According to James Volwes, the situation is similar now, Toto Wolff and his staff are ahead of the pack in terms of resources:
“I think Mercedes is doing a really great job. That’s why we were very happy to be their engine partner. From 2026, the resources will be simplified, but the design process has undergone a big change, everything happens in the electric world, and this is not only a challenge, but also a big opportunity. Mercedes started investing in these technologies before anyone else. Currently there are no differences between the engines, but that will change soon. Of course, not to the extent we have seen since 2014, but there will be. However, they will not be so big that the group will brutally tear itself apart.” - said a former Mercedes employee, now team principal of Williams.
